SON YAMBU
Son Yambu are a UK based band who play authentic Cuban son - the essential Afro-Cuban sound that originated in the streets of eastern Cuba at the turn of the last century and later gave rise to modern salsa.
Most of the band members hail from Cuba. Each has a lifetime’s worth of experience in playing son Cubano and are all passionate about maintaining the traditions of the genre.
Playing their irresistible tropical rhythms, Son Yambu bring their audiences a truly sensational, authentic Latin-music experience and their music is guaranteed to turn any event into a fiesta!

From Guanabacoa, Cuba, Dunia is an accomplished international singer having performed with many Cuban bands.
She has a sparkling personality, is a born entertainer, and aficionados have likened her to a young Gloria Estefan.

From Guantanamo, Cuba, Frank has performed and toured internationally with Cuban bands Manguaré, Son Del Nene and Pedrito Calvo amongst others, before joining Son Yambu.

From Santiago de Cuba, Alberto has played and toured internationally with many bands including Septeto Matamoros, Los Chicos Del Barrio, Grupo Turquino, Habana Con Kola and Septeto Nabori to name but a few.

From Santa Fé, Argentina, Javier has toured internationally with many bands before settling in the UK and becoming a stalwart of the salsa scene there.
Amongst others, he has played and toured with Latin legends Henry Fiol, Camilo Azuquita, Maelo Ruiz, David Pabon and Joe Bataan.

From Havana, Rene has performed and toured internationally with Cuban band’s Kuban Salsa, Quartet Cofradia and Sonora Habana.
Prior to this, earlier in his career, Rene performed regularly in the famous Capri Cabaret in Havana.

From London, Toby has been playing Latin percussion regularly over the past 25 years on the UK scene with such artists as Orquesta Caché, Alex Wilson, Candeal and the Hot Orange, and is passionate about the music!
